Hello Lewisville Residents!!  I am excited to announce our new city webpage.  This will be an informational site to publish upcoming events, notices or any information that affects the city.  We have made strides in improving the city over the last 12 months. We have a plan for this year that will move us closer to economic improvement and neighborhood revitalization. Lewisville faces many issues of neglect and the effects of economic shifts.  We have chosen to fight to reclaim our town, our communities, and our neighborhoods.  We have several initiatives currently underway, and I will name a few of the major ones.
1. Updating the City Water System. The city water/sewer project is finally set to begin on April 2, 2021.   The City was mandated by the Department of Natural Resources to upgrade its water distribution and wastewater disposal systems.  Our water distribution lines, at a cost of $3 million, will get a major overhaul throughout most of the city.  This will replace most lines and every water meter with a digitized system that will minimize error and accurately capture water usage. The waste-water project, at a cost of $1.04 million, will improve the waste treatment facility and the flow of waste through it.  It will not replace every sewer line.  That will have to be a future project. Project duration will be approximately 1 year.
2.  Housing Development/Neighborhood Revitalization.  The housing market in Lewisville is dismal at best.  The average age of homes in the city are in the 30 to 40-year range.  Many homes are not at the basic standard of living requirements and require much work.  Home ownership is down, and rental properties are, for the most part, sub-standard.  We can do better.  There are Federal and State programs designed to address this very issue.

The city has partnered with SWPDD, USDA, and 1st Nat’l Bank of Tom Bean to develop a planned neighborhood and prequalify potential homeowners. We are working to build new homes to provide homeowner opportunities to our residents.  Contact City Hall for info.
3.  Street repair.  The city applied for street aid in 2019 and the project was completed in August 2020.  We have submitted a proposal for 2021 and awaiting.  The street repair projects are capped at $300,000 per city.  The proposed list of streets will be available at City Hall.  The streets will be prioritized by extreme need. If approved, the project will begin late summer.

I encourage all residents to attend the City Council meetings to hear what is going on and have input.  The meetings are the 3rd Thursday or each month at 5:30 pm at the Fire Station.  Please feel free to contact us here at City Hall for any questions or concerns.
Building Community Pride!!
